Yawa Journey – a women’s gathering with the Yawanawa people

Deep in the middle of the Amazon Forest, in Acre, Brazil, live the Yawanawa people. For centuries their culture were silenced by the colonization and today they are reclaiming their traditions through sacred medicines, rituals, music and storytellings. The indigenous women also didn't have space in the spiritual gatherings but recently they have been finding space to manifest their voice and knowledge and change how women are seen in their community. This film was created during the first time women led a spiritual retreat only for other women.
