Translucent Tapestry: A Bloom of Jellyfish
An incredible underwater adventure as the bay near our home was momentarily invaded by a huge swarm of Jelly Blubbers. These, mostly stingless, beauties formed such a thick tapestry across the surface of the water that it cast the sand and seagrass below into darkness. We enjoyed a spectacular freedive plunging between the swarm, some the size of dinner plates, and watching the tiny shoals of fish that hid between their tentacles. This swarm only last a few days and was gone. A spectacular, momentary visitor that turned our backyard into a once in a lifetime adventure, and swiftly departed.
