Through the Looking Glass
At the trad climbing Mecca in Queensland, the iconic Frog Buttress, overhead cloud was providing perfectly shaded walls for climbing late into the day. After noticing a break in the clouds on the horizon to the west, I had an inkling that a banger sunset could be on the cards. I asked my mate Alex to climb up an unknown route (unknown to me at the time anyway) & onto an arete that would situate him almost perfectly for a stunning photo if Mother Nature decided to put on a show. Just as Alex poked his head around the corner to ask if he was in the right spot, the sun burst out from under its cloudy blanket & cast a beautiful golden glow over the entire Fassifern Valley landscape. The whole crag stopped in awe of what was probably one of the best sunsets I have ever witnessed. Counting my lucky stars that my inkling had paid off, I started snapping photos & came away with one of the most beautiful images of my career.
