Freedom of Adventure

In 2020, as Covid gripped the world and travel was restricted, I took the opportunity to try a new adventure, a solo 10-day trek on the Great North Walk between Newcastle and Sydney. It was my first multiday experience, and as you do, I took too many things, too much weight, and learned some lessons along the way. But despite the hardships, the screaming muscles and morning stiffness, the occasional hunger and recurring rain - the sense of freedom and empowerment, the connection to nature, and disconnection from the everyday was immense. This photo, taken on my phone using a tripod, captures the sense of freedom and adventure that I was experiencing, and continue to incorporate into my life years later. It also captures the stupidly large size of my bag - with a weight of about 25-28kgs! Good times, good lessons!

We acknowledge that this land on which we tread, whilst beautiful and revered by us, has even deeper layers of significance for its Traditional Owners; we pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.

We Are Explorers is aware that the land is never truly being explored anew, given the ancient cultures that came before us who still call this land their home.

We believe business can be a force for good, so in 2020 we became a Certified B Corporation® after a rigorous assessment. We’re now part of a movement of companies committed to the highest environmental and social standards. We’re here to shake up the economy and work towards a better world, because change only happens when you make it. You in?
