The Lurking Fear
As the first rain drop hit my face I grabbed the last hold on pitch 17. I pulled onto Thanksgiving Ledge as lightning lit up the sky. Within moments an epic storm unfolded. We took refuge in a small cave and watched in awe as Yosemite Valley put on a spectacular show. The next morning, as we dug ice out of cracks, the clouds rose from the valley floor along with our spirits, lifting us to the summit of El Capitan.
