Scaling the face

There are 5 climbers in this photo. See if you can spot them all.My partner and I travelled to the Alps of France last year in the summertime. We were staying out of town, but decided to do a day trip to explore Chamonix. As we drove through the winding roads, the mountains encroached closer. When we were in within touching distance of Chamonix, my partner couldn't help but cry. Tears of joy, the shear beauty and spectacle of the mountains and scenery had overwhelmed her with emotions. This place was something completely different to our home of Brisbane. We booked a gondola ride up to the Mont Blanc lookout. Waiting in line, we noticed a board above the waiting area that read '-1C at summit'. Worry began to set in. We became worried as down where we were staying, it was easily a 30C day. Neither of us had the forethought to pack jumpers when we left in the morning, something we started regretting when we read that sign. Luckily it was a beautifully sunny day on the mountain and by the time we reached the lookout it had warmed enough to not freeze. We spent a solid 2-3 hours at the lookout just taking it all in. Going to every vantage point we could find to soak in every view of the spectacular alps. Waves of explorer's were making there way onto the there mountain, equipped for all sorts of adventures. There were teams doing alpine hikes, mountain training, and summit climbing. The photo I've submitted shows one of these groups scaling the face of the rock face. The summit of Mont Blac, a fitting background, shows the scale of the task ahead for these climbers. Every time I look at this photo, I am reminded of that day, that feeling, that sense of adventure. It makes me want to explore all corners of this plant, capturing moments like these. Captured on Il Ford HP5 film using my Minolta XG-1.
